Michio Kaida

Michio Kaida was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Nidec Corporation effective September 29, 2026, stepping into one of Japan's most challenging turnaround assignments. Born September 15, 1956, in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, Kaida is age 70. He graduated in March 1979 from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kansai University.

Kaida joined Lead Electronics Co. Ltd. (currently Nidec Advance Technology Corporation) in April 1979, beginning a 47-year tenure with the Nidec group. He advanced through the ranks: General Manager of Sales Department (April 1991), Director (June 1993), Managing Director (June 1996), and Senior Managing Director of Nidec-Read Corporation (June 2001). He became Representative Director and President of Nidec Advance Technology in April 2003, and Representative Director and Chairman in April 2018. Kaida rose from a group company to join the Japanese motor maker's top ranks.

The Board comprehensively considered Kaida's track record of contributing to the Company's revitalization as Vice Chairperson of the Nidec Corporate Reform Committee, his leadership in driving reforms based on a sound understanding of the Company's current challenging business environment, and his sincere commitment to engaging with stakeholders in good faith. At a press conference on October 1, Kaida pledged to maintain the company's listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, calling it his "mission". Kaida stated his company aims to "resolve remaining issues by the end of October in an effort to obtain the audit firm's opinion".
