Matt Benchener

Matt Benchener joined Hargreaves Lansdown as Chief Executive Officer in July 2026, after spending more than 18 years at Vanguard where he held the role of managing director and head of Vanguard's Personal Investor division for just over five years. He brings extensive experience across retail investing and digital transformation, alongside a strong track record in driving client growth and developing innovative financial products. In 2023, Benchener joined the Board of SIFMA, a leading trade association for broker-dealers, investment banks and asset managers focused on building effective and resilient capital markets.

Benchener earned his BA from Johns Hopkins University and MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined Vanguard in 2008 via its Acceleration Into Management (AIM) program, which provides a focused leadership pipeline through the development of highly motivated young talent.
