Khalid AlSweilem

Dr. Khalid AlSweilem was appointed Chairman of EFG Hermes KSA, the Saudi Arabian subsidiary of the leading Middle East and North Africa investment bank. AlSweilem is recognized as a distinguished leader in the global investment arena with an innovative approach to financial strategy and extensive leadership experience.

AlSweilem is the former Chief Counselor and Head of Investment at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), where he joined in 1991 after completing a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University's Department of Economics. He served as SAMA's Head of Investment Management (Chief Investment Officer) and from 2002, Director General of the Department in addition to his role as the CIO. He was responsible for implementing SAMA's monetary policy operations to ensure banking sector system liquidity and the strength and stability of the Saudi local currency.

AlSweilem holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Colorado and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Harvard University, with academic expertise as a fellow expert at Harvard Kennedy School. As a visiting scholar at the Center of Sustainable Development and Global Competition (SDGC) and the Stanford Long-Term Investing Initiative (SLTI), he has significantly influenced thought leadership in long-term investment strategies. AlSweilem was appointed a non-resident fellow at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, focusing on sovereign wealth funds research with particular emphasis on Saudi Arabia's reserve sovereign funds.
