Colin MacDonald

Colin MacDonald MRICS is founder & CEO of Fine Grain Property. Since returning to Ireland in 2019, he has led the strategic growth of the business, investing over €350 million in high-quality innovation campus workplaces across 16 locations nationwide. He owns and operates the 40 acre Westpark Innovation Campus in Shannon, a premium office development for global businesses such as Aercap, Axa, DHL, Pepper, and SES.

MacDonald graduated with a B.Comm. from UCD in 1989 and lived and worked in Asia for 30 years. Following senior leadership roles at HSBC and Far East Organization, he founded Fine Grain Property in Singapore in 2007. Before establishing Fine Grain, he spent 12 years co-investing in Irish pubs—Father Flanagan's, Molly Malone's and BQ Bar—through McCraic Group, which he exited via profitable trade sale in 2009.

While growing the pub business, MacDonald was approached by Far East Organization, Singapore's largest private residential development company, to join the team behind its ambitious project to redevelop the old post office into a 400-room luxury hotel. The project was a major success and inspired the Fine Grain name, after Singapore's chief planner described the scheme as an example of 'fine grain development' the city needed. Over a decade from 2006, Fine Grain profitably repositioned several commercial buildings in Singapore, and developed a 300 room Premier Inn Hotel.

A former President of the Irish Chamber of Commerce Singapore and Ireland Funds Singapore, he brings a global perspective to his work in Ireland, with a focus on building sustainable workplace communities which foster innovation, growth, and long-term economic development.
