King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance

The King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC) operates as a non-profit entity headquartered in Manama, Bahrain, with a mandate to build cohesive societies by addressing root causes of conflict, such as prejudice and division, while upholding human rights, international law, and the values of tolerance enshrined in Bahrain's constitution. Founded under the vision of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, the center serves as a global model for religious and cultural pluralism, focusing on combating extremism, hatred, and intolerance through education, dialogue, and sustainable development initiatives.

KHGC's core activities include the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance, which recognizes youth efforts in community welfare and environmental stewardship; the Higher Diploma in Coexistence, a multidisciplinary program in peace and conflict studies; and the King Hamad Leadership Program in Coexistence, which trains Bahraini leaders via workshops and trainer-of-trainers models to counter hate and promote empathy. KHGC offers joint postgraduate diplomas with international universities, such as the second edition launched in 2025, enrolling 100 students from 63 countries to focus on peacebuilding, human rights, and countering extremism.

The center collaborates with global entities, including governments in Egypt, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Italy, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as UN agencies and local Bahraini institutions like the Ministry of Social Development, to exchange expertise on peacebuilding and interfaith dialogue.
