Acwa Power

Acwa manages a global portfolio spanning 110 assets across 15 countries with assets under management (AUM) valued at US$ 124.4 billion, with capacity to generate 97.9 GW of power and produce 9.8 million cubic meters of desalinated water daily. The company is the world's largest private water desalination company and a pioneer in green hydrogen, operating in 14 countries. Acwa employs more than 4,000 people, nearly 60 percent of whom are local hires.

Today, Acwa operates across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia, with a portfolio comprising renewable energy, water desalination, green hydrogen, and conventional energy projects. In January 2026, the company rebranded from ACWA Power to Acwa and unveiled a new brand identity, marking its transition from a regional Saudi Arabian developer to a global infrastructure platform managing over US$115 billion in assets across 15 countries. Acwa announced a strategic goal to double its assets under management to US$250 billion by 2030, focusing on large-scale green hydrogen, next-generation desalination, and renewable energy storage.

In 2025, Acwa reported net profit attributable to equity holders of the parent of SAR 1.9 billion, while adjusted net profit rose by 60% to SAR 2.2 billion. The company added 25 GW of power and 2.1 million m³/day of water to its portfolio through nine PPAs and three WPAs alongside acquisitions in Bahrain, Kuwait, and China, bringing its year-end portfolio to 108 assets across 15 countries with SAR 437 billion (USD 117 billion) in assets under management.

Recent Leadership

In 2025, Dr. Samir J. Serhan stepped in as CEO, succeeding Marco Arcelli who built strong momentum in driving growth over the prior three years. Acwa's board is chaired by Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan, with Raad Al Saady as Vice Chairman and Managing Director.
