Dr. Rumman Chowdhury

Dr. Rumman Chowdhury is a data scientist and social scientist recognized as a leading voice in responsible AI and algorithmic accountability. She co-founded Humane Intelligence as a nonprofit organization in 2022 and served as its CEO until stepping down in 2025 to focus on a new public benefit corporation. She currently serves as the United States Science Envoy for Artificial Intelligence and is a Responsible AI Fellow at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.

Chowdhury holds two undergraduate degrees from MIT in Management Science and Political Science, a Master of Science from Columbia University in Statistics and Quantitative Methods, and a doctorate in political science from the University of California, San Diego. She completed her PhD while working in Silicon Valley and began her career in consulting data science before teaching at Metis data science bootcamp and working at Quotient Technology Inc.
