Abu Dhabi Investment Authority

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) is a sovereign wealth fund owned by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, founded to invest funds on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi. In 1976, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding president of the United Arab Emirates, converted it into the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. The company is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

ADIA manages a diversified global investment portfolio across more than two dozen asset classes and sub-categories, investing directly in global financial markets, alongside trusted partners and through a network of carefully selected external managers. Today ADIA invests in all the international markets — equities, fixed income and treasury, infrastructure, real estate, private equity, and alternatives (hedge funds and commodity trading advisers — CTAs).

ADIA's operational scale is supported by a workforce ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 employees, dedicated to executing its strategic objectives. The team includes more than 65 nationalities - when walking around their headquarters, you can hear conversations in any one of more than 50 languages. ADIA has significantly increased its focus on technology and the use of AI, building out a quant research and development team of more than 100 people, and launching ADIA Lab which engages in applied research in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and high-performance and quantum computing.

Tawreed Investments is a subsidiary of ADIA that has investments in several Australian infrastructure projects including Queensland Motorways, TransGrid, and WestConnex. In February 2026, ADIA sold its 50% stake in a Sydney office precinct to Charter Hall, an Australian fund manager, for $351 million.
