FBD Holdings plc and its general insurance subsidiary FBD Insurance plc have appointed Silvia Milián Bon to the risk committee of both companies with immediate effect. The two boards disclosed the change in a regulatory announcement issued on 23 October 2026 under the Irish listing rules that govern changes in the responsibilities of directors at Dublin listed companies.

Milián Bon has sat on both boards as an independent non-executive director since December 2025, when FBD announced her appointment as a director of the holding company and of the insurance subsidiary with immediate effect. The move to the risk committee therefore extends an existing mandate rather than adding a new face to the boardroom, and it places her on the committee that reviews the group's risk appetite, its risk management framework and the principal risks the business is carrying.

FBD chair Jim Bergin said the addition of Silvia to the risk committee will enhance and complement the existing skills on the committee. In setting out the background to the move, the group pointed to more than 25 years of insurance industry experience spanning strategy and technology, with work centred on digital transformation and on the artificial intelligence and data capabilities that insurers are now building into their core operations.

Her executive career was spent at Accenture, where she was a managing director and held several senior international positions, latterly as insurance lead for strategy and consulting in Iberia. The programmes she led covered digital distribution channels, core policy and claims systems in both packaged and custom built form, and artificial intelligence and data platforms deployed on premises and in the cloud. She stepped back from executive work in 2023 to concentrate on non-executive and advisory roles, and she holds advisory board and senior adviser positions at financial services organisations, consulting firms and technology companies.

FBD describes itself as a leading general insurer serving the needs of farmers, businesses and retail customers, and it operates from 34 offices across Ireland. Its shares are listed in Dublin and in London, and the group reported its results for the six months to 30 June 2026 in August.

The appointment fits a pattern now visible across European insurance boards, where risk committees are adding members whose experience lies in technology and data rather than in underwriting or actuarial work alone. Insurers are migrating policy administration and claims systems to the cloud, putting machine learning into pricing and claims handling, and working to supervisory expectations on operational resilience and the governance of digital systems. Boards have answered by broadening the range of skills represented on the committees that review those exposures.

For FBD, the effect is to put technology and transformation experience directly into the forum that scrutinises risk, at a point when the group's distribution and servicing depend increasingly on digital systems. The announcement set out no other changes to the composition of the risk committee and named no further board appointments.
