Africa Tech Festival runs in Cape Town from the seventeenth to the nineteenth of November. The year is 2026. The event is held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and is organised by the Informa Connect division of Informa PLC.

What the event is

Africa Tech Festival is the continent's principal technology and connectivity event, historically anchored on AfricaCom, and it draws telecommunications operator leadership, data centre and infrastructure investors, regulators and enterprise technology buyers.

The organiser sets out six content pillars for the coming edition: telecommunications and connectivity, data centres, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, startups and digital transformation. Around the main agenda sit masterclasses, forums and meet ups, a next generation talent track, an awards programme, a startup experience, a hackathon and a one to one meetings service.

Why it matters to a board

Two threads here are board level rather than technical. The first is data centre and artificial intelligence infrastructure investment, where the question of where African compute capacity gets built, and who finances the power to run it, is being decided over the next several years. The second is telecommunications consolidation and the regulatory treatment of it, which determines the shape of the operator market that every enterprise on the continent buys connectivity from.

The organiser publishes no attendance, exhibitor or speaker numbers and no edition number, and does not name which events are co-located with the main programme.
