BankenTech 2026 opens in Frankfurt am Main on the first of December and runs over more than one day. The conference is organised by Handelsblatt and appears on the organiser's current conference programme, which lists it as a multi-day event in Frankfurt am Main. The organiser does not name a venue on the programme listing.
The conference addresses the technology and operations agenda of German banking, covering core banking platforms, payments infrastructure, cloud migration, data architecture and the supervisory expectations that attach to each of them.
The event matters to executives because the cost base of a European bank is now largely a technology cost base, and the decisions taken about core system replacement, outsourcing and third party dependency determine both the efficiency of the institution and the scope of its regulatory reporting obligations for years afterwards. Chief operating officers, chief information officers, heads of payments and heads of digital at German banks and savings institutions attend alongside the technology vendors and consultancies that serve them.
Frankfurt am Main is the seat of the German banking industry and of the European Central Bank, which makes it the natural location for a conference at which supervisory expectations and commercial technology decisions are discussed in the same room.
