Janus Henderson Group plc has appointed Charles Ejiogu as executive director, Client Group MEA, based in Dubai, adding a senior relationship manager to a regional team the asset manager has been enlarging for several years. The firm announced the appointment on 20 October 2026.

Ejiogu reports to Meshal AlFaras, managing director and head of the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia client group. AlFaras said the firm was delighted to welcome Ejiogu to Janus Henderson. The role is an addition to the team rather than a replacement, and the firm named no outgoing holder of the title.

He joined the firm earlier in the month, bringing close to a decade of client relationship management across the Middle East and Africa. He began his career at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London in 2017, where he worked with central banks, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds across the region. Most recently he was an executive director for asset management and institutional sales at Goldman Sachs in Doha.

The appointment extends a build-out that Janus Henderson has been running in the Gulf since it established a regional presence in 2012. The firm has added an investment specialist, a senior associate director and a further executive director to the same client group in recent months, and it opened an office in Abu Dhabi Global Market last year.

The competitive logic is straightforward. Sovereign wealth funds, central banks and the region's large pension pools have become among the most courted allocators in global asset management, and the firms that win mandates from them increasingly do so with relationship teams resident in the Gulf rather than flying in from London or New York. Hiring a Doha-based institutional salesman into a Dubai seat gives Janus Henderson coverage of two of the region's principal allocator centres from inside the time zone.

Janus Henderson Group plc is incorporated in Jersey. The firm does not break out assets gathered from the Middle East and Africa separately, so the commercial weight of the regional team is not publicly measurable, but the pace of hiring into it is the clearest available signal of the priority the firm attaches to the market.

What the appointment does not yet settle is distribution reach beyond the sovereign channel. The Gulf's wealth management and family office segments are served largely through local private banks and platforms, and a client group staffed from institutional sales backgrounds is configured for the first of those opportunities rather than the second. Whether Janus Henderson follows with wholesale distribution hires will indicate how broadly it intends to compete in the region.
