Health Catalyst appoints Simeon Kohl chief executive officer and president

Health Catalyst, Inc. has appointed Simeon Kohl as chief executive officer and president, the Nasdaq listed healthcare intelligence company said on 8 September 2026. He took up the role on 14 September and has also joined the board of directors as a Class III director.

Kohl arrives with more than two decades in healthcare spanning operations, growth and public company leadership. He most recently served as chief executive officer of Performant Healthcare, which he led through its sale to Machinify for approximately 670 million dollars, a transaction that completed in October 2025. He had joined Performant in 2012, running healthcare operations as general manager before becoming president in March 2022 and chief executive officer in May 2023, when he also joined that company's board.

Health Catalyst describes itself as a healthcare intelligence company built to accelerate measurable improvement for health systems across cost, clinical and consumer performance, and cites 2.8 billion dollars in documented outcomes. The business combines healthcare domain expertise with proprietary artificial intelligence technology sold to hospital groups and provider networks.

The appointment follows an orderly transition at the top of the company. Ben Albert stepped down as chief executive officer and president on 13 September and moved into the role of chief business officer, leaving the board on the same date.

Justin Spencer, chairman of the board at Health Catalyst, said: "Simeon is a seasoned public-company healthcare leader with a strong track record of driving operational performance and creating shareholder value."

Kohl said: "I was drawn to Health Catalyst because it brings together two things I care deeply about: improving healthcare and building high-performing organizations."

Albert said: "I care deeply about Health Catalyst and this team, and I'm proud of what we have accomplished together."

The company set out the terms of the appointment in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 8 September. Kohl receives a base salary of 600,000 dollars with an annual bonus target of 100 per cent of salary, and an inducement grant of 2,747,385 restricted stock units, of which 915,975 vest on 4 September 2027 and the remainder across eight quarterly instalments. Health Catalyst reported the inducement awards separately under Nasdaq listing rule 5635(c)(4) on 14 September.

Kohl takes over a business working through a period of portfolio change. Health Catalyst sold its Vitalware revenue cycle unit for 147 million dollars in July 2026, and revenue in the second quarter of 2026 fell 13 per cent against the same period a year earlier, according to trade coverage of the results.
