Ash Bhumbla, Hormel Foods Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Hormel Foods Corporation has named Ash Bhumbla as its executive vice president and chief financial officer, adding a seasoned protein industry finance leader to the top of its executive team. The Austin, Minnesota based maker of Spam, Skippy and Planters announced the appointment on August 24, 2026, with Bhumbla taking up the role on September 8.

At Hormel Foods, Bhumbla assumes responsibility for the company's global finance organization at a moment when packaged food producers are navigating shifting input costs, changing consumer demand and pressure to protect margins. He becomes the principal financial officer of one of the largest branded food companies in the United States, with a portfolio that spans retail grocery, foodservice and international markets.

Bhumbla, 39, joins from Tyson Foods, where he most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company's Chicken segment, a role he held from September 2023, and where he also served as chief financial officer of the International segment. His career in the protein and consumer sector runs deep. Before Tyson he held senior finance and corporate development leadership positions at Perdue Farms, and earlier worked at International Flavors and Fragrances. He began his career in strategy consulting at Marakon Associates.

The move gives Hormel a finance chief with direct experience of the meat and poultry economics that shape much of its business, from live animal costs through processing and distribution. Investors watching the sector have pointed to disciplined cost management and capital allocation as the central tests for consumer food finance leaders, and Bhumbla arrives having run the finances of a large protein operation through a period of volatile commodity prices. The company has leaned on acquisitions such as Planters and Skippy to broaden beyond its traditional meat business, and funding and integrating that wider portfolio now sits within the finance chief's remit.

He succeeds Paul Kuehneman, who had been serving as interim chief financial officer. Kuehneman will continue with the company as vice president and controller and as its principal accounting officer, providing continuity through the handover.

The appointment is the latest in a run of senior finance moves across the United States consumer goods sector, as established brands recruit executives with sector specific operating experience to steer them through a demanding cost environment. For Hormel, a company with a long record of steady dividends and a heavy reliance on branded protein and pantry staples, the choice of a chief financial officer drawn from the poultry industry points to a focus on operational and margin discipline in the periods ahead.
