Karim Temsamani, Scentre Group

Scentre Group has appointed Karim Temsamani as an independent non-executive director, adding a senior technology executive to the board of the operator of one of Australia's largest shopping centre portfolios. The company announced the appointment on 25 August 2026, effective 1 September 2026.

Karim Temsamani will also join the board of Scentre Management Limited, the responsible entity within the group's structure, and is expected to bring a digital and data perspective to a business built on physical retail property. He is currently President of Next-Generation Security at Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity company, and has held senior roles across the technology industry.

His career spans more than a decade at Google, where his roles included leading the company's Australian and New Zealand business, followed by senior roles at a global payments company and a chief executive position at a consumer data and advertising firm, before he moved into cybersecurity. That background gives the Scentre board a director versed in digital platforms, data and consumer technology at a time when shopping centre operators are investing heavily in loyalty, media and online integration.

Scentre Group owns and operates a portfolio of major shopping centres across Australia and New Zealand and generates income from long term retail leases as well as a growing stream of digital and media revenue. As a listed trust it depends on strong governance, disciplined capital allocation and the ability to keep its centres relevant as shopping habits change, and board renewal with technology expertise fits that agenda.

The appointment continues a broader trend among large property groups, which have been adding directors with technology, data and consumer backgrounds to complement traditional real estate and capital markets experience. For a business whose centres increasingly function as media and experience platforms as well as retail destinations, that expertise has become central to strategy.

Temsamani joins a board responsible for overseeing management, strategy and risk at a group that sits at the intersection of retail, property and technology. His independent status and his outsider perspective on digital business are intended to strengthen the board's ability to challenge and guide management as the group pursues its plans.

For Scentre Group, the appointment deepens the board's technology and data expertise as it works to keep its centres central to how Australians and New Zealanders shop. Karim Temsamani takes on a role that will contribute to governance and strategy as the group balances its physical property base with a fast growing digital business.
