Etiqa Insurance Singapore has appointed Claudia Soh as chief executive officer, effective 14 August 2026, the insurer announced on that date. The appointment followed a six month stint in which Soh served as acting chief executive alongside her existing role as chief financial officer, a period in which she led the insurer through what the company described as a phase of growth and transformation focused on innovation, operational efficiency and customer centricity.
Soh brings more than 20 years of experience across the financial services and insurance sectors, spanning finance, strategic planning, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations and auditing. Before joining Etiqa she served as chief risk officer at AXA between 2019 and 2022. Prior to that she spent more than 13 years at Great Eastern, holding leadership roles across risk management, group strategy and management reporting before becoming chief internal auditor. Her career also includes experience at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Finance as a strategic partner
During her time at Etiqa, Soh has also championed efforts to reposition the finance function from a traditional support role into a strategic business partner, with the stated aim of delivering stronger outcomes for customers, employees and other stakeholders. Kamaludin, group chief executive of Etiqa Insurance and Takaful, said Soh had demonstrated strong leadership, strategic clarity, operational excellence and resilience, and that her ability to drive innovation, build strong teams and adapt to changing customer needs would continue to strengthen the company market position in Singapore.
Soh said she was honoured to take on the role at a time of significant change for the insurance industry. She said the company needed to remain agile, innovative and focused on delivering purposeful value as customer expectations continued to evolve, and that combining digital innovation, data driven insights and strong partnerships would help enhance the customer experience and support individuals and businesses in building financial confidence and resilience.
Deepening distribution partnerships
Soh appointment comes as Etiqa looks to strengthen its distribution capabilities and ecosystem partnerships while developing new solutions around protection, savings and financial wellness. Under her leadership the insurer said it would continue to deepen its longstanding relationship with Maybank, with the two companies looking to deliver more integrated financial and protection solutions by drawing on the bank network and customer base. Etiqa said it would also continue working with partners across Singapore to develop products catering to consumers evolving protection, savings and financial wellness needs.
Etiqa Insurance Singapore is part of Etiqa Insurance and Takaful, a regional insurer with operations across Southeast Asia. The company has in recent months built its consumer facing presence around the theme of everyday preparedness, including an experiential street campaign encouraging Singaporeans to reflect on their readiness across mental, physical and financial wellbeing.
