Solar and Storage Live KSA will be held at Riyadh Front in Riyadh from the twenty third to the twenty fifth of November, with the organiser Terrapinn staging it alongside Climatech, its Saudi exhibition for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling.

The pairing is deliberate. Solar generation and battery storage on one side of the hall and cooling load on the other describe the two ends of the same Saudi problem: a power system whose peak demand is driven overwhelmingly by air conditioning, and a generation build out intended to meet that peak with something other than burning liquid fuel.

The policy backdrop

Saudi Arabia has set a target of sourcing half its electricity from renewables by the end of this decade, and the National Renewable Energy Programme has been awarding utility scale solar capacity in successive rounds at tariffs among the lowest recorded anywhere. The constraint has moved from generation cost to integration: solar output peaks in the early afternoon while the Kingdom's demand peak sits later, which is the gap battery storage is being procured to fill. That is why a show that would once have been a solar exhibition now carries storage in its name.

For the supply chain, the commercial question at this edition is less about panel pricing than about who can deliver storage at utility scale on Saudi timelines, and about the local content requirements that increasingly accompany awards. Developers, engineering contractors, equipment manufacturers and financiers all attend, which makes the event a reasonable read on how crowded the storage field has become.

Riyadh Front has become the default venue for Saudi trade exhibitions of this scale, and the late November slot puts the show in the middle of the Kingdom's exhibition season. The conference programme that runs alongside the exhibition is where the detail on grid connection, offtake structures and local content tends to be discussed, and it usually draws the regulatory and utility side as well as the vendors.
