Carol Howle

Carol Howle was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BP plc in April 2026, effective immediately after serving as interim CEO following Murray Auchincloss's departure in December 2025. In her deputy role, she oversaw the company's ongoing portfolio review and strategy development while continuing to lead supply, trading and shipping (ST&S). Howle holds a professional designation from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Howle has more than 20 years' experience in the energy industry, largely in integrated supply and trading. Prior to leading supply, trading and shipping, she ran BP Shipping and served as chief operating officer for integrated supply and trading. Her previous roles include chief operating officer for natural gas liquids, regional leader of global oil Europe and finance, as well as head of the group chief executive's office.
