Jeanine Pirro

Jeanine Ferris Pirro, born June 2, 1951, in Elmira, New York, is an American television host, lawyer, and author now serving as United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. She has been in this position since 2025, appointed by President Donald Trump on May 8, 2025.

Pirro received her Bachelor of Arts from the University at Buffalo and her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School, where she served as an editor of the law review. She was the first female judge elected in Westchester County, New York, serving on the Westchester County Court from 1991 to 1993. In 1993, she was elected to the position of Westchester County district attorney, where she served through 2005. As district attorney, she gained visibility in cases of domestic abuse and crimes against the elderly, and she is noted for starting one of the nation's first domestic violence units.

Before her appointment to the Justice Department, Pirro had a prominent media career. She joined Fox News Channel in 2006 and hosted "Justice with Judge Jeanine" for 11 years before joining "The Five," which has emerged as the most-watched show on cable news. She was a contributor to NBC News.
