Vaso Corporation, the Plainview, New York-based medical technology and IT services company, appointed Shaun McMeans to its board of directors, effective July 23, 2026. McMeans currently serves as chief financial officer of Nabsys, a Providence-based life sciences company developing electronic genome mapping technology. Dr. Jun Ma, president and chief executive officer of Vaso, said the addition brings to the board someone with what the company views as valuable experience navigating the financial and operational complexities of public life sciences businesses during periods of strategic transformation.
The appointment marks a boost in Vaso's board composition at a moment when the company is attempting to stabilize operations following its previously announced merger with Achari Ventures Holdings Corp, a NASDAQ-listed special purpose acquisition company. The merger was expected to provide Vaso with additional capital to fund growth initiatives across its three business segments. No search firm was identified in the public announcement. The company released no additional details about potential board committee assignments or McMeans' expected contributions beyond the general statement that his background would support long-term value creation.
McMeans brings more than two decades of financial leadership in regulated and capital-intensive industries. He spent eleven years as chief financial officer of HTG Molecular Diagnostics, a publicly traded life sciences tools and diagnostics company, serving in that capacity from February 2012 through 2023. Before that, he held senior finance roles at Securaplane Technologies, a division of aerospace and defense conglomerate Meggitt PLC, and spent time as a financial consultant with Tatum LLC. His career also included financial leadership positions at The Long Companies, a Berkshire Hathaway real estate division, and LXU Healthcare, a specialty surgical equipment manufacturer. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and built early experience in finance roles at Burnham Holdings, a hydronic heating equipment manufacturer.
Vaso operates through three business segments: IT services focused on healthcare IT and managed network technology; professional sales services centered on diagnostic imaging equipment for general electric healthcare; and medical equipment manufacturing. The company trades on the OTCQX market and reported in recent quarters that it has worked toward profitability while managing investments in its subscription-based deferred revenue streams. Its business combination activities suggest a strategic pivot toward consolidation and capital-market credibility typical of smaller medtech firms seeking scale and operational stability.
McMeans' appointment signals that Vaso's leadership views financial discipline and public company experience as priorities during a period when the company is restructuring its capital base and attempting to integrate operations. His tenure at HTG, a genomics diagnostics firm that faced its own market pressures and ultimately filed for bankruptcy protection, provides practical experience managing through industry volatility and transitions. Whether the appointment directly reflects any anticipated changes to Vaso's financial strategy or capital structure remains unclear from public statements, but adding a CFO with demonstrated expertise in life sciences finance to an operational board suggests the company may be in early-stage planning around future capital or strategic actions.
