Capstone Partners, the middle market investment banking subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, appointed Yogesh Punjabi as Head of its Consumer Industry Investment Banking Group on June 17, 2026. The promotion represents a significant leadership move as the firm integrates the TM Capital acquisition, which closed in January 2026 and expanded Capstone's headcount by roughly 40 percent. Punjabi's elevation signals Capstone's intent to leverage his deep expertise in the automotive aftermarket sector to drive continued growth in a resurgent dealmaking environment.

Punjabi, who joined Capstone in 2019, has been instrumental in expanding the Consumer Group's market presence and client relationships. He already served as a member of Capstone's investment banking committee, contributing to firm-wide strategic direction. His appointment follows an extended period of internal development; over the past twelve months, he led the execution of three significant transactions: Max Auto Supply's acquisition by Midas International, Bertram Capital's acquisition of Left Lane Auto, and Freedman Seating Company's acquisition by Lippert Components. John Ferrara, Capstone's founder and president, noted that Punjabi has "consistently creates strong outcomes for our clients" and possesses the "leadership, market knowledge, and strategic perspective" needed to lead the group forward. No executive search firm involvement was disclosed in the appointment announcement.

Punjabi's background reflects specialized focus on the automotive aftermarket and broader consumer sectors. Prior to joining Capstone, he spent time as a Senior Vice President at Jefferies, where he concentrated on automotive aftermarket transactions involving parts manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, and service providers. Earlier roles included positions at BB&T Capital Markets, where he worked across Retail, Consumer, Automotive Aftermarket, and Food and Beverage sectors, and at Financo focusing on retail and consumer clients. He began his financial career in Alternative Investments at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Punjabi holds an MBA from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Northeastern University. His work has earned recognition from the M&A Advisor and Global M&A Network for delivering exceptional client outcomes.

Capstone Partners operates as a full-service middle market investment bank headquartered in Boston with more than 175 professionals across the United States. Founded over 20 years ago, the firm provides M&A advisory, debt and equity placement, corporate restructuring, special situations, and financial advisory services across 12 dedicated industry groups. The firm became a subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares in June 2022. The January 2026 acquisition of TM Capital, which brought approximately 140 new employees, solidified Capstone's position as a top-10 U.S. middle market investment bank and expanded its private equity capabilities; approximately 75 percent of TM Capital's deal volume involved financial sponsors. The combined platform now maintains an active pipeline of roughly 300 transactions across 16 industry verticals.

The appointment underscores the accelerating momentum in consumer-sector dealmaking, particularly in automotive aftermarket M&A, where structural factors appear durable. Capstone's own sector research indicates that automotive aftermarket M&A activity reached 194 announced or completed transactions year-to-date in 2025, reflecting tempering from 2024 levels amid trade policy volatility, yet private equity buyers comprised 50.6 percent of total deal volume, marking the first time financial sponsors have driven the majority of aftermarket deals since 2022. Industry observers expect acceleration into 2026 as tariff environments stabilize and interest rates moderate. The appointment of a dedicated leader with Punjabi's sector depth suggests Capstone anticipates significant deal flow ahead, positioning the Consumer Group to capitalize on consolidation opportunities in a fragmented market where aging vehicle fleets and the rise of technology-enabled services such as advanced driver-assistance systems calibration are reshaping transaction profiles. The move reflects both Capstone's internal talent development and the firm's broader integration strategy following the TM Capital transaction.
