Government and business leaders are set to gather in Dubai tomorrow for the AI Retreat 2024 to explore opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies locally and globally. The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, will bring together over 1,000 decision-makers, industry leaders, and AI experts from both the government and private sectors. Taking place at the Museum of the Future and AREA 2071, Emirates Towers, the retreat is organized by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in collaboration with the National Program for Artificial Intelligence. This marks the inaugural event of the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (DUB.AI), aiming to strategize and accelerate AI adoption across all sectors, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a global AI hub.

The AI Retreat will commence with a keynote address by His Excellency Omar Sultan AlOlama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. AlOlama will outline the main objectives of the recently launched DUB.AI, which aims to speed up AI applications' adoption. Following the keynote, panel discussions will feature global AI experts and industry leaders, focusing on innovations, success stories, and the government's evolving role in AI adoption. A notable session titled ‘From Dubai to the World: Scaling Local Unicorns’ will delve into Dubai's entrepreneurial ecosystem and its rapid AI growth. Another critical discussion, "Government’s Role in Enabling AI Adoption through Policy Development and Regulatory Innovation," will examine how governments can regulate technologies to enhance operations and services, highlighting Dubai’s regulatory sandbox initiative and future regulatory needs to support AI innovation.

The AI Retreat will also feature high-level roundtables designed to produce tangible outcomes. These roundtables will address key areas such as ‘Data Regulation and Policies’, ‘Computing and Digital Infrastructure’, ‘Funding and Finance’, and building a robust ‘Talent Ecosystem’. Each session aims to drive progress in ethical AI development, critical infrastructure, financial strategies, and talent acquisition and retention. Additionally, the event will host specialized workshops and panels by strategic partners from both private and public sectors, including tech giants like Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Amazon Web Services, Nvidia, and others. These sessions will provide insights into cutting-edge AI applications and foster collaborations that will support Dubai’s vision of becoming a leading global AI hub.
