Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has appointed Arfat Qayyum as Senior Executive Officer (SEO) of its Dubai office.

Qayyum succeeds Mohamed Shoukry, who left the bank in March after a brief tenure as CEO of UBP Middle East, the bank’s Dubai-based subsidiary.

In his new role, Qayyum will report to Walid Shash and Mohamed Abdellatif, co-heads of UBP’s Middle East and Africa (MEA) business. He will be responsible for advancing the bank’s growth strategy in the region, where demand from ultra-high-net-worth individuals, institutional investors, and family offices for bespoke wealth and investment solutions remains strong.

His mandate will also include strengthening UBP’s local investment capabilities and broadening its suite of Shariah-compliant offerings.

Qayyum brings more than two decades of financial services experience across the Middle East and North America. He joins from Credit Suisse’s Qatar branch, where he served as CEO, and previously held senior roles including head of private banking and wealth management at Al Khalij Commercial Bank, covering Qatar and the UAE.

UBP manages over $12 billion for clients in the Middle East and employs more than 40 staff in Dubai.
