Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has hired a new Dubai-based market head to cover its drive to build assets in the non-resident Indian (NRI) and GCC segments, the bank said.

Antony Avinash Louis has joined as Market Head for the Middle East, effective from 18 November. He reports functionally to Mohamed Abdellatif, co-head of Middle East and Africa (MEA), and has a local reporting line to Mohamed Shoukry, CEO of UBP Middle East.

Louis was previously at Santander Private Banking, where he was team leader of the global NRI and international clients market. Before that, he was a senior advisor at Julius Baer for over a decade. His career also includes tenures at Société Générale and DBS Bank, where he played a pivotal role in developing and expanding the private banking businesses in Singapore and the UAE.

The appointment comes after a leadership change earlier this year that saw Shoukry joining as CEO for the Middle East business from JP Morgan and his predecessor, Abdellatif taking on a broader role as co-head of MEA.
