UK-based Sharia-compliant digital banking app Nomo has named industry veteran Ewan MacLeod as Chief Technology Officer, based in London.

MacLeod brings almost 30 years of leadership experience to Nomo, including previous roles at NatWest, Nationwide, Nordea Bank, and Sohar International, where he spent three years as Chief Transformation Officer.

Launched in 2021 as a part of the Bank of London and The Middle East (BLME), which itself is a regional subsidiary of Kuwait's Boubyan Bank, Nomo provides Sharia-compliant digital banking services for businesses and individuals, as well as real-estate financing solutions for rental and residential properties.

Current technology integrations include paymentology, whose cloud-based digital payment platform was first selected by Nomo in 2023 to process transactions, monitor fraud, issue Mastercard virtual cards, and gain insights into consumer spending.

Speaking to FinTech Futures, Andrew Ball, CEO, Bank of London and The Middle East says that MacLeod "has already made a strong contribution to the bank’s technology strategy and daily operations, working closely with our teams to strengthen platform resilience and delivery".
