UBS Wealth Management has named Borja Martinez-Laredo as head for its newly established advisory office in Abu Dhabi, effective 4 December.
Martinez-Laredo will report directly to Niels Zilkens, head of wealth management Middle East, according to an internal memo.
He joins from JP Morgan’s Global Families Group in New York, where he advised sophisticated international and multi-jurisdictional clients. He previously led a team serving Middle Eastern families on asset allocation, portfolio construction, capital and liquidity strategies, and wealth transfer planning.
With more than 15 years of industry experience, Martinez-Laredo brings deep regional and international expertise back to UBS. Earlier in his career, he headed a wealth management team at UBS Spain, where he helped broaden the firm’s local offering.
Alongside his role as location head, he will also serve as senior executive officer, subject to regulatory approval. He succeeds Katrin Juerissen, who acted as interim SEO during the office’s setup phase.
UBS opened the Abu Dhabi office in October, marking its second presence in the UAE and a key milestone in the Swiss bank’s long-term commitment to the Middle East. The new branch, established under UBS AG, is designed to strengthen the firm’s footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing financial and wealth hubs.
Through the UBS AG Abu Dhabi Branch, clients will receive advisory services directly from ADGM, while assets continue to be booked in Switzerland, tapping the bank’s global platform and product expertise.
