Amy M. Fadida has been appointed vice chair of the Board of Directors at AFCEA International, a nonprofit membership association serving military, government, industry and academia. The announcement on June 1 comes as the technology and defense sector association reshapes its leadership in advance of Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford's transition to the presidency and chief executive role on June 15. Fadida's appointment marks recognition of more than three decades of service within AFCEA and over 45 years in telecommunications and information technology sectors focused on government contracts.
Fadida succeeds Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford in the vice chair position as he assumes the chief executive role. Her appointment reflects AFCEA's emphasis on deep institutional knowledge and cross-sector relationships; she serves on multiple AFCEA committees including governance, small business and technology initiatives. Board Chair Tamara Greenspan stated Fadida's "impressive track record in guiding organizations through growth and transformation, along with her strong connections across government and industry, will strengthen our board and our global community." No external search firm involvement was disclosed in the appointment announcement.
Fadida founded her consulting firm, A.M. Fadida Consulting, in October 1997 after a 19-year career at AT&T and Lucent Technologies, where she served as General Manager of Government Solutions managing a revenue portfolio of approximately $275 million. Her earlier roles included Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at Automated Research Systems, Senior Vice President for Business Development at DigitalNet and Senior Vice President for Corporate Business Development at Perot Systems Government Services. She began her career in 1978 at C&P Telephone Company of Maryland in customer service and sales, progressing into government-focused telecommunications roles. In 1995, Fadida won the prestigious Fed 100 Award recognizing contributions to government and industry. She attended the University of Maryland and completed additional coursework at Montgomery College, the University of the District of Columbia and Penn State University.
AFCEA International is a member-based 501(c)(6) nonprofit established in 1946, though its organizational roots trace to the Civil War era. The association serves over 30,000 individual and corporate members across more than 130 chapters worldwide, with operations extending to Europe through an office in Brussels. AFCEA convenes military officers, government civilian employees, industry executives and academic leaders to exchange information and build partnerships in defense, cybersecurity, intelligence and information technology. The organization operates without lobbying to maintain what it characterizes as an open forum between sectors and publishes SIGNAL magazine, a long-running defense and technology publication.
Fadida's appointment appears strategically timed to support institutional continuity as AFCEA undergoes significant leadership turnover. Her deep relationships across federal contracting, her demonstrated expertise in business development and organizational management, and her longstanding involvement in AFCEA governance positions her to bridge government and industry stakeholders at a moment when defense-related technology partnerships are increasingly critical to national security. The fact that her consulting firm continues active engagement in federal systems integration and IT professional services suggests she maintains current market knowledge and stakeholder relationships that may prove valuable to AFCEA's mission of aligning technology and strategy across sectors serving defense and intelligence communities.
