Shamsheer Vayalil

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil Parambath is an Indian radiologist and businessman born on 11 January 1977 in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. He obtained his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and his MD in radiology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. Vayalil also completed a radiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. As of April 2023, Vayalil has a net worth of US$2.4 billion.

A radiologist by profession, the entrepreneur founded his first hospital in 2007, after which his VPS Healthcare grew to own and operate over 20 hospitals in the region. As Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, Vayalil oversees Burjeel, Medeor, LLH, Lifecare, and Tajmeel healthcare brands. Burjeel Holdings is a leading healthcare services provider in the MENA region, employing over 14,000 professionals and serving more than 7 million patients annually. He also serves as Chairman of Almasar Alshamil Education Company, which invests in special education and care in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is listed on Tadawul.

Dr. Shamsheer was appointed as Chairman of Amanat Holdings PJSC on 28 December 2023, as Amanat's largest individual shareholder. However, he stepped down from this role in February 2026 to focus on other business interests. In 2014, Vayalil received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman for his role in developing a healthcare business in the United Arab Emirates and for promoting UAE-India ties. In April 2014, he filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India in connection with non-resident Indian (NRI) voting rights, which led the Court to direct the Election Commission of India to explore the possibility for NRIs to cast their vote from their place of residence.
